Long Exposure - American Flag

I am still learning how to do long exposures... in fact, this is my first one.

Long Exposure: The Hands of Time

Focal length: 34mm

ISO: 200

Aperture: f/6.3,

Shutter: 6.5 seconds

Lighting: TV in the background

Technique: I used my camera remote to start and stop the exposure as I manually turned the hands.

Weekly Assignment: Mirror

We've had some excellent posts on long exposure, and I know we have a couple more to come. The new assignment is Mirror. I think this will be really interesting to see what people turn in.

Hey groupies! I made a facebook fan page for our group. I thought we could each have our own album and a place to display our work. At the very least, go find the page and become a fan, and invite your friends!

Portrait event

Hey groupies,

Most of you saw on Facebook that I created an event for the group. A 3 hour open-house style, portrait session. I've invited a lot of people and so far, I have had a great response. We need to discuss the details in advance so this thing comes off well and is a success for our group.

I want to get the group together to discuss the details. For those that work at iC, I will send a meeting request, but for those that don't, I don't know how to get a hold of you other than our blog. If you want to plan with me, lemme know ASAP. There may be some fees involved (like renting equipment or fees from the site we're going to) and need to get firm committments on who is going to be there.

Geometry in everyday stuff

I think it's funny how many people fight the learning of math, when it is present in everything we do. Just my opinion.

One thing that always comes to mind when I think of Geometry is pool. To me, pool is all about angles.

Alright there's the new assignment. Lets see some submissions for real this week! We're all busy, but if we're not going to have more than 1 or 2 submissions each week, it's not worth coming up with an assignment. We moved to this site because people were saying it would increase participation, lets see it!

Photo Club Event - Portrait session

So, I took charge and scheduled an event for my photo club. On April 10th, we are going to have an open house style photoshoot. I am hoping that all the members of the group will attend AND we'll get a great response from friends and family... and extended peeps. Well since I can't see to figure out how to reply to your comment, I'll post it here. This image is uncropped, but after you mentioned cropping... maybe I should've taken out the far right power pole to make for a more symmetrical image as well as remove some of the distraction from the main focus of the image.

I locked my mirror up before the shot to prevent any unnecessary extra movement.

Post processing: DPP (Canon's software) decreased exposure 1/3 stop, increased contrast 10%.

Photo Assignment Feb 2 - Feb 8 - Balance

This just gets better and better. Every ones photos have been magical. We hope everyone is having fun and learning as well. This weeks assignment is "Balance". This is a highly subjective assignment so don't stress. You can do lots of things, like depicting balance (a person balancing on one foot) or your photo can be balanced and not necessarily depicted it (two trees standing next to each other). This one will be challenging, but I am sure we will have some great pics from the wiz photographers we have in the club.

Photo Assignment Jan 26 - Feb 1 - Yellow

Wow! Does time fly or what? Thanks to everyone who posted this week. For those who didn't (for shame....J/K) you can still post anytime you want. Be sure to use the label "up close" when you post for last weeks assignment. Any who...this weeks assignment is still pretty straight forward but maybe a little more abstract. Yellow. Do what ever you want just be sure to convey yellow. Your picture could range from a yellow taxi to Chris Martin and his band mates from Coldplay performing their hit song "Yellow" (if you have this kind of access...what are you doing posting on this dinky blog?.....call me so I can come). So there you have it Yellow!
